Special Agent John Bost, III

Officer Kaulike S.G. Kalama

On January 19, 2020, Officer Kaulike Kalama and Officer Tiffany-Victoria Enriquez were shot and killed while responding to a stabbing call at a home in the Diamond Head area.

Officer Enriquez was one of the first officers to arrive at the scene. As the officers went down the driveway, the suspect opened fire and fatally shot Officer Enriquez. Officer Kalama was shot minutes later when he and additional officers arrived to assist.

Officer Kalama had served with the Honolulu Police Department for nine years. He is survived by his wife and son.

Officer Tiffany-Victoria B. Enriquez

On January 19, 2020, Officer Tiffany-Victoria Enriquez and Officer Kaulike Kalama were shot and killed while responding to a stabbing call at a home in the Diamond Head area.

Bronson K. Kaliloa

Police Officer Bronson Kaliloa was shot and fatally wounded at approximately 9:30 pm as he and other officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop of a wanted subject on Highway 11, in the area of Kukui Camp Road, in Mountain View.

As officers approached the vehicle the wanted subject exited and opened fire with a handgun, striking Officer Bronson in the neck and leg. Other officers returned fire as the subject fled into a dense area of brush along the roadside.

Officer Kaliloa was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds shortly after midnight.

Officer Kaliloa had served with the Hawaii County Police Department for 10 years. He is survived by his wife and three young children.

Officer John W. Wulbers

In the early morning of May 22, 1901, Officer John Wulbers was on patrol when he observed a runaway horse near King Street an Asylum Road. Officer Wulbers was able to mount the horse but was unable to gain control as the animal bolted for several city blocks. The horse ran onto the sidewalk on South Street, where Officer Wulbers was knocked off the animal after striking a telephone pole.

Officer Wulbers sustained head injuries and was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Captain Neville S.K. Colburn

Captain Colburn died of a heart attack while participating in his department’s annual physical fitness program. Captain Colburn was running on the fitness track of the Police Academy when he collapsed. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Captain Colburn had signed into the gym at 1358 hours and was found at 1433 hours, according to department documentation.

Alan H. Winn

July 4, 1954 to August 13, 1991

Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent/Pilot Alan H. Winn, 37, was killed August 13, 1991, in a helicopter crash during an operations flight over the island of Hawaii.

Special Agent Winn graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. While in the Marine Corps, he trained as a helicopter pilot. In 1985, Special Agent Winn joined the San Diego, California, Police Department as a patrolman and also earned a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from National University in San Diego. He joined DEA in February 1987 and was Class Representative of Basic Agent Training Class 48. He was then assigned to the San Diego Field Division and in July 1987, was transferred to a Task Force group in the Phoenix Field Division. In April 1988, Special Agent Winn received a Sustained Superior Performance Award.

In July 1990, he joined the Phoenix Aviation Section and in April 1991, was reassigned to DEA’s Aviation Section at Hilo, Hawaii. On August 13, 1991, Special Agent Winn was performing a routine marijuana spotting mission flight as part of DEA’ s marijuana eradication program. During the course of that day’ s mission, Special Agent Winn’ s helicopter suffered an engine malfunction causing the crash.

Special Agent Winn was survived by his wife, Kristy, and two daughters, Whitney and Lauren.
